CPL stands for the Caribbean Premier League is an annual Twenty20 cricket tournament held in the Caribbean. It was created in the year 2013 and replaced the Caribbean Twenty20 as the Premier competition in the Caribbean.
Currently, it is sponsored by the Hero Motocorp and consequently officially named the Hero CPL. The inaugural tournament was won by the Jamaica Tallawahs who defeated the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final.
The West Indies Cricket Board is the responsible authority, who first announced the plans for the Caribbean Premier League in 2012. The board met to make decisions on the structure and organization of the Caribbean Twenty20 CPL.
Hero CPL 2019 Official Match Details
Now, the 7th edition of HERO CPL T20 championship is all set to kick off on 4th September 2019 with an opening Match. As per the updates, the first match of HERO CPL T20 championship will be played on 21st August 2019 and the last match is scheduled to be on 12 October 2019.
As per the official notification of CPL T20 board, the opening round of matches would be played in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana before the tournament returns to the two countries for the playoff and the final.
The chief Operating of the T20 extravaganza sounded delighted on the developments and is looking forward to having the best in the business from around the world.
