Yes, after the recently concluded series between India and England, Indian squad is ready to showcase their talent and supremacy in the Asian Subcontinent. The top teams of Asia will be participating in the Asia Cup which is scheduled to take place in the UAE. Asia Cup is one of the most desirable tournament which every team wants to win especially right now as it will prove their Asian dominance plus would greatly enhance the spirit and would act as a confidence booster.

The Asia cup is undoubtedly the biggest platform to showcase Cricketing talent in Asia. The last Asia Cup took place in Bangladesh in 2016 where India won. India was supposed to host the Asia Cup 2018 but due to some reasons it has been moved to UAE. Now, six teams will be competing in the tournament which will be played from september 13 to september 28.

While five of the six teams namely India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan received a direct entry in the competition, the sixth team was elected through a random playoff tournament between six teams. These six teams are Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Oman, Nepal and UAE. UAE won the tournament and is now officially the sixth participant of the Asia Cup 2018.

The tournament will be further divided into two groups where one group comprises of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan whereas in the other group Arch Rivals India and Pakistan will join the qualifier from the teams mentioned above.

In the group stages, each team will play two games against each other and the top two teams from each group will qualify for the Round 2. In the Round of 4 each team will play one game against each other and the top two teams will advance further.

While the 2016 edition of the Asia Cup was played in T20 format, this particular edition will be played in ODI format in order to keep things intact before the world cup 2018 England. All the pressure will be on Indian National team as they would enter the tournament as the favorites and the defending champions. India has also won the most Asia Cup tournaments a record six times followed closely by Sri Lanka’s 5.
