Finally, the long awaited wait is over and World Cup 2018 is finally here. Russia will lift the curtain from the FIFA World Cup 2018 with a shimmering opening ceremony to be held at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow at 3:30 PM, right before the first match between Russia and Saudi Arabia.

The tournament will start on 14 June, 2018 at Thursday at 4 PM at the Luzhniki Stadium. Russia has prepared an opening ceremony to welcome the 32 nations but the excitement is already at its peak as all the teams will be giving their best to win the prestigious tournament.

The Ceremony will mostly focus on musical acts with England’s 90s pop star Robbie Williams headlining. There will be other music stars performing too.

The opening ceremony show will run for as long as 30 minutes with 500 performers including dancers, gymnasts and trampolinists. The ceremony will close with a series of fireworks before the world cup returns after Mario Gotze’s majestic and decisive finish to make Germany the champions, 4 years ago.

Robbie Williams is a pop icon and recongnized worldwide, he has helped UNICEF in Football aids before and will perform in the 80,000 crowded Luzhniki stadium and gazillions of fans watching at their homes around the globe.

Williams said, “I’m so happy and excited to be going back to Russia for such a unique performance. I’ve done a lot in my career, and opening the FIFA World Cup to 80,000 football fans in the stadium and many millions all over the world is a boyhood dream.”

“We’d like to invite football and music fans to party with us in Russia, in the stadium, or to tune in their TVs a little earlier for an unforgettable show.”

Robbie Williams will be joined by Russian opera artist Aida Garifullina. According to fifa, the FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony will have a different format than its previous editions and will focus mostly on the musical extravaganza.

The show will begin 30 minutes before the opening match with the Brazilian legend and two time World  champion Roanldo showing off the World Cup trophy to the present audience.

There will also be a concert happening simultaneously with the opening ceremony in the Moscow city’s famous Red Square.

Pianist Denis Matsuev, global opera stars Anna Netrebko, Yusif Eivazov, Ildar Abdrazakov, and Albina Shagimuratova are among the Russian stars to perform in the Red square event.

The official song of the FIFA World Cup 2018 will be performed before the opening match. The official world cup song is called “Live it up” and it features Will Smith, Nicky Jam and Era Istrefi.
